Tubes is another matching puzzle type game, in the vein of Columns, Gems and the latter games like Puzzle fighter. In this game you catch different elements in beakers and chain them together to form “molecules”. There are also all sorts of other molecules that can help or greatly hurt you (like the grey coloured Xenon molecule, which does nothing and just gets in the way until you can find a way to blow it up). Overall a pretty fun and interesting game.

I always wanted to try this game. The only copy I could ever find was on a shareware compilation and the game seems bugged all to heck because it refuses to work past putting your character name in. The end of this video is where it crashes!

Wikipedia Says: WarWizard was a fantasy computer role-playing game that was released as shareware in 1993, first for Amiga, then ported to Ms-Dos for IBM-compatible computers. It was developed by MicroGenesis, a small company founded by Brad McQuaid and Steve Clover in 1989. Today, the game is most notable as the commercial start for McQuaid, Clover, and artist Milo Cooper, who would later work together at Sony Online Entertainment on EverQuest and at Sigil Games Online on Vanguard: Saga of Heroes.
The player acts as a “WarWizard”, a powerful magic-using character that fights and completes quests. WarWizard features VGA graphics and sound effects, but touted greater emphasis on gameplay than on anything else.
One notable feature of the game was its combat mode, which featured the ability to target specific parts of an opponent’s body, hampering movement or disabling the opponents altogether, rendering them unable to flee from the battle or to retaliate. The same thing could also happen to the player, WarWizard, himself.
Today, the game is mostly unknown except to a few fans and appears impossible to find anywhere on the net. Even the official site, which became unavailable from September 2007 (possibly connected to Sony Online Entertainment’s takeover of Sigil Games Online on 15 May, 2007), offered only a shareware version of the game for download. According to Brad McQuaid, the full version seems to be misplaced and nowhere to be found.
Few people mentioned to have ordered the full Ms-Dos/PC Version of WarWizard at the time, but never received any answer or the game. It appears that the game has been discarded by its makers without any chances ever for the full version to become available today for anyone.

UPDATE, NEW FEATURE:
DOWNLOAD THE SHAREWARE:

http://www.4shared.com/file/114114876/2a149fd6/WWIZARD.html

This is the only download available of the game on the whole internet apparently… See if you can get it to run better than I could.

The cost of the game to register is 20 Deutschmarks but the authour would accept half from elderly, students, poor and disabled. The game wasn’t exceptional in any way, but it was fun for its simplicity. Also, as a German thing the word Yab is pronounced “Jab”. The game features 2 real MLB team names but solely because of their colours. Blue = Blue Jays. Red = Red Sox. I let the game sit a bit to reach the credits then put it into demo mode to show the gameplay.

The shareware version only had the two messages, Eyeguard is on duty and Eyeguard is watching you, but the registered version supposedly had different avatars and you could customize whatever messaged you wished it to say. The reason for the horrible audio quality also is because it didn’t even use a sound card. It put the synthesized voices straight through the old PC speaker!

The Shareware version (which is what I play here and appearantly sucked at) has nag screens, censored gore, little to no music and sound effects. The registered version (which is ultra rare) supposedly has a lot more features (including sound, music, full gore and no nag screens). You play Alucarda, daughter of a Witch who was burned at the stake. Your mother comes to you as a ghost and asks you to avenger her death, thus setting the story in motion. I probably would have played it more if I knew what I was doing back in the day. Overall it seems like a fairly good game considering it was made by just one person. A real labour of love.

Oh yeah, kind of messed up the intro video because I had to look after my Son again

Either I overlooked them or didn’t compare them correctly. (Used a slightly different method in the earliest versions) My apologies. Here is the video of things I forgot to add.

v1.0sw to v1.1sw had three maps where sides of doors not normally accessed by single/co-op players not function as doors. Although E1M4 wasn’t that big of a deal, (since it just leads to another secret) E1M3 and E1M7 had deathmatch players trapped in secret rooms, where the only way to get out was for other players to access that secret room. Not good deathmatch matches, I presume. The last door in the number of doors leading to the soulsphere secret in E1M5 was also repeatable from the outside in v1.0sw. Just like in the first DOOM Historic video, it’s possible to “lock” the door leading to the secret. Hiding deathmatch players?

The last bug from v1.0sw that was fixed was some missing textures that you normally never notice in single-player. In E1M6, doors close behind you. But behind those doors were some nasty missing textures. v1.1sw to v1.2sw also fixed some missing textures, except this time they were easily noticed no matter what game mode you’re playing. It’s the blue door switch area from E1M9. One bug that didn’t really break the mood from v1.1sw was the secret chainsaw door from E1M3. The back side of the door used a switch texture. Only in v1.1sw, it didn’t really act like a switch. This was fixed, though you can no longer open and close mid-way from that side.

The changes from v1.2sw to v1.666sw were more of the same. E1M2 had a nasty bug where you can lock yourself (or other people) out of the entire maze. The secret soulsphere door in E1M8 were upper unpegged in v1.2sw. What does that mean? It means that the texture didn’t rise when the door rose. Also, these textures became misaligned with the rest of the wall. (Tradeoff, I guess) Both of these were fixed in v1.666sw.

Also, the v1.0sw and v1.1sw multiplayer shown here is actually v1.2sw, as playing v1.0sw and v1.1sw through IPX on DOSBox has problems. (Either crash on first intermission, or -turbo 24/7)
